“Getting the most out of life means choosing wisely and choosing well. …If you want to make good choices, you have to understand yourself and those around you.”

Russ Roberts

Are you living your best life? What does it mean to live your best life, all sarcasm aside. It means getting the most out of life.

When I was a child, I struggled with reading. Not the words as much as my attention. And then I found the “Choose Your Own Adventure” series. It was fascinating. At each step, the reader could make the choice. Will the character go in the dungeon to fight the dragon or go make money with the blacksmith?

In the series, if you didn’t like the outcome, you could backtrack and make another choice. Unfortunately, real life isn’t like that. Though we can choose something later in life, the act of choosing (or not choosing) limits our options in that point in time.

Every choice limits your options. That’s true. But that doesn’t mean that the options that are limited are good or bad. They just are. This is why mindfulness and living in the present is so important to our decision making process. Are we making a decision because of fear? Or do we have clarity?

Limits aren’t bad. They give us clarity and empower us to move forward. Making a choice is a way to actively participate in your own life. Through these actions, backed with a clear intent, we can live our best lives. We can get the most out of our life.

Today’s Thought

I choose to live my best life. I choose to make choices in clarity. I choose to enjoy the now, how I feel, what I smell, and to discover what I want. I choose to be brave in my decision making. I choose to get the most out of life.
