It’s with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that the #HeadToWCEU 2020 project has been cancelled.  Physical safety of team members, volunteers and our community has been at the core of this project and the current situation relating to the COVID-19 virus is not a risk we can ask of them.

I would firstly like to extend a huge thank you to all the team members, volunteers and those that registered their interest in joining the event.  We had more than 40 riders that would have covered the six countries, travelling over 3,500 km, throughout the thirty days.

During the time we have been developing this event, we have learned a lot of lessons.  We hope to be able to implement what we have learnt in 2021, depending on where WordCamp Europe is of course!

The #HeadTo project was developed to help raise awareness of the need for positive physical and mental health within our community.  To that end and given the current global climate, we are discussing internally how we can deliver an impactful event, in a safe and fun way.  We’ll keep you updated as plans for this evolve.

I would like to extend a special thank you to all the companies that had agreed to support the project and enable us to deliver our message to the community.  I would like to extend a special thank you to both Honda and Specialized, both companies have been supportive of the project from an early stage and had committed considerable resources to support the team.

As an organisation, WP&UP has taken the precautionary measures to protect its team by temporarily suspending all international travel.

We appreciate this is a challenging time if you need to talk, our team is available.
